I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Upon doing so my 5.1 surround sound home theater system is no longer working. It is a Samsung CT-5550 Home Theater System.

I am using an Optical cable from my Home Theater system into the back of the motherboard. I have installed Realtek's Windows 10 driver, Gigabytes Windows 10 driver, the driver that came with my motherboard, that previous worked on Windows 7 and fiddled with all manner of settings between all of them and nothing. It is not working. When I set the output to 5.1 and run a test, it tells me Test Tone failure. The highest output I can get is 2.1 channel @ 48hz. I can get 2.1 @ 92khz but it's spotty.

The curious thing is, when I test the Encoded option for Dolby, it works. I can hear it out of all speakers. Please someone, anyone, fix this for me. For reference, here is what I'm looking at. This is my speaker system. When I test the Encoded Format Dolby Digital, the test runs through all the speakers and I can hear the tones.

Dolby Digital Plus is listed as 'On' but for some reason did not show in screenshot. This is what I get once I set both Realtek control panel and default format to both 5.1 channel surround sound and run a test.

All is set as it should be, it's just not working. I have the same issue. After upgrading to windows 10 pro x64 (from windows 8.1 pro x64) I have not 5.1 surround on my Samsung htd 5550. I use optical connection too. In fact when I go to control panelhardware and soundsound my Realtek digital output (optical) seems to work, but I can hear only 2 out of 6 six speakers working. The configure button is also greyed out so I cannot select 5.1 speakers. Moreover I can only see two tabs in the Realtek hd manager (digital input, digital output), the speaker tab is gone and there is no way to choose 5.1 sound like I used too.

I have already tried removing Realtek drivers, installing the latest 2.79 to no avail. I have gigabyte eg41mf-ush2 motherboard.

The product comes with a mini DSP-like array of features that allows you to tune the sound stage the way you would like it to sound. This means that you will never be constrained by the recording quality of any MP3 song or game as you would be able to tune the sound accordingly. However, even if you leave everything at default settings, the sound is already enhanced as compared to the onboard sound chip/card of your notebook/PC. This product is best matched to a 5.1 sound system.

I was using a system (low budget at $55) with a 25 watt RMS subwoofer and the highs and lows, clarity and deep bass from the system has blown my friends away when played as it matches and even surpassed systems that would cost ten times more. They simply could not comprehend that music can sound so good with strong separation of channels and enhanced through stereo surround from 5 speakers.

THe whole front area becomes a huge sound stage. The pinnacle of sound came when I managed to hook up a Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 megaworks with THX Certification and 500 watts of pure RMS power. Though old technology and already a defunct model, the whole setup made the same group of friends realise that you do not have to spent thousands to enjoy incredible sound. This also has caused them to rethink about going wireless when analogue can actually sound so good. My only grouse is that it would be great if the product can be a little smaller and come with a retractable/adjustable USB connection.

The one given is a little too long. Highly recommended with 5.1 setup.
